Community AED and Community First Aid courses added

We have added two community courses aimed at giving you the basics of how to give first aid and how to use an AED unit.  The courses are designed to give just the basic information needed to save a life.   We will also be launching a community AED program soon, where communities can buy discounted AED units and lockable cabinets, that can be linked to the 999 service and to help save a life.

LIFEPAK CR Plus and/or LIFEPAK EXPRESS Automatic External Defibrillator recall

Lifepak CR Plus and Lifepack Express AED units have a product recall for certain serial numbers.  Below we have copied their notice which contains their phone number if you think your unit may be affected.  You can also check their website for the affected serial numbers.  It is important that if you have one of these units that you check it now as it may not function correctly when needed.

Emergency Services Show is on the 21-22nd September at the NEC Birmingham and ProTrainings are exhibiting at the Emergency Services Show on stand K13.  We will be there with our training packages, the latest version of the PractiMan manikin with the advanced head, Dechokers, latest blended FPOS courses, the new PractiPad AED pad placement trainer, LifePoint AED units, instructor training and details of our instructor network for training courses nationally.

Alzheimer’s disease

Alzheimer’s disease researchers from the University of Cambridge, have discovered a gene signature in healthy brains that echoes the pattern in which Alzheimer’s disease spreads through the brain much later in life. The findings, published in the journal Science Advances, could help uncover the molecular origins of this disease, and may be used to develop preventative treatments for at-risk individuals to be taken well before symptoms appear. The results identified a specific signature of a group of genes in the regions of the brain which are most vulnerable to Alzheimer’s disease. AED units on aircraft

AED units on aircraft are becoming more widespread and the UK Resus Council on their website have added some useful information and they have added a video from the BBC where AED’s are discussed. Airline staff are trained in basic first aid and they have been carrying first aid kits since 2004 but the introduction of AED units has been slower for European carriers. Some airlines started caring AED units on long haul flights but now more an more airlines are carrying AED units on all flights.  

Disability Awareness Video Online Course Now Live – Supporting Enhance the UK

Disability Awareness is a very important subject but until now understanding it has not been easy to learn. We have teamed up with Enhance the UK, a disability charity to develop this educational course to improve disability awareness. Fifty percent of all proceeds from course sales go direct to Enhance the UK to further support their excellent work in promoting and training disability awareness.

Security dog first aid courses from ProTrainings now approved by NASDU

Security Dog First Aid courses from ProTrainings now approved by NASDU, The National Association of Security Dog Users.  ProTrainings Europe are recommended by NASDU to provide Security Dog First Aid training for Security Dogs and Detection Dogs, having had the learning objectives contained in NASDU qualifications mapped against the learning outcomes.  See the NASDU website www.nasdu.co.uk/canine-first-aid
