Dog Aid are an unique charity that train your pet to be a registered assistance dog. In this film is looks at the great work they offer and two case studies on how assistance dogs change peoples lives. Dog A.I.D. is a registered charity and is accredited to Assistance Dogs UK and Assistance Dogs International and Assistance Dogs Europe. They provide personal dog training for people with physical disabilities to help them train their own dog to Assistance Dog Level where appropriate.

Cybercrime and Phishing is something that anyone can be a victim of, private individuals, small companies and large corporates may all be targeted through various forms of phishing and malware that you may unwittingly install on your computer by clicking a link or opening a file attachment that has been sent to you. Cybercrime victims can suffer financial loss and damage to their reputation and may even find their data being held to ransom. Cybercrime in all forms is a wide scale problem over one million UK cases reported to Action Fraud in the last year alone.

Course title change
We have changed three of our course titles as they were prefixed with “Pro”. The courses are now just called by their name so they can be found easier as they are now alphabetical. The web addresses and course content have not changed. The courses are:

Aspod – the safe way to carry Aspirin
Aspod is a simple carrier for emergency Aspirin. There is evidence that aspirin, taken during a heart attack, can reduce the size of the clot causing the heart attack and may even cause the platelets in the clot to disperse. Research shows that the death rate can be reduced by 20-25%. Aspirin, used in the prevention of heart attacks, is probably the most cost-effective drug available in medical practice and daily low-dose aspirin is now a standard item in the management of heart disease patients.
Community AED and Community First Aid courses added
We have added two community courses aimed at giving you the basics of how to give first aid and how to use an AED unit. The courses are designed to give just the basic information needed to save a life. We will also be launching a community AED program soon, where communities can buy discounted AED units and lockable cabinets, that can be linked to the 999 service and to help save a life.
LIFEPAK CR Plus and/or LIFEPAK EXPRESS Automatic External Defibrillator recall
Lifepak CR Plus and Lifepack Express AED units have a product recall for certain serial numbers. Below we have copied their notice which contains their phone number if you think your unit may be affected. You can also check their website for the affected serial numbers. It is important that if you have one of these units that you check it now as it may not function correctly when needed.

Alzheimer’s disease
Alzheimer’s disease researchers from the University of Cambridge, have discovered a gene signature in healthy brains that echoes the pattern in which Alzheimer’s disease spreads through the brain much later in life. The findings, published in the journal Science Advances, could help uncover the molecular origins of this disease, and may be used to develop preventative treatments for at-risk individuals to be taken well before symptoms appear. The results identified a specific signature of a group of genes in the regions of the brain which are most vulnerable to Alzheimer’s disease.
