Resuscitation Council UK Quality Standards Consultation
You have until Friday, the 24th of May, to shape CPR and AED standards. The consultation is by Resuscitation Council (UK), the organisation that sets the guidelines for resuscitation practice. Quality standards for CPR and AED awareness and training in the community are important. The council’s aim is to “remove barriers to people performing CPR, and give evidence-based and consistent guidance to trainers so that a national standard can be achieved.” That certainly sounds like a worthwhile endeavour that we can all support! Key points – Resuscitation Council’s quality standards ProTrainings helps businesses to adhere to standards, by providing training …
New Mental Health in the Workplace courses launched to mark Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental health issues are on the rise. This may be because they are reported more frequently, but also because workload and stress at work are also increasing. An individual’s psychological and emotional well-being is just as important as their physical health. What we cover: Understanding mental health …
All food ingredients to be listed for allergy sufferers
Today, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has proposed that all food outlets should list the ingredients of their foods, to protect customers with allergies. Ministers are being encouraged to introduce strict rules, which include highlighting the main 14 allergens. Learn more about the 14 allergens here: www.food.gov.uk/business-guidance/allergen-guidance-for-food-businesses This news comes after the death of Natasha Ednan-Laperouse, who tragically died after eating a sandwich from Pret a Manger which she later discovered contained sesame seeds – an ingredient that wasn’t listed on her sandwiches’ label. Pret a Manger said it supports the new recommendations. FSA chairwoman, Heather Hancock, explained that they’d chosen …

Monkey business!
Talk about going the extra mile for clients…we recently developed a course for a monkey sanctuary, to teach its staff how to perform life-saving first aid skills on the playful primates. Believe it or not, there are lots of monkeys kept as pets in the UK – over 5,000! This is not ok, and owners soon realise they can’t give them the attention and care that they need. All monkeys are wild animals and inherently unsuitable for keeping in domestic situations. Lack of adequate species knowledge, diet, veterinary care, social opportunity and space leads to mental, physical and emotional suffering …
New .UK Domain for ProTrainings
They say businesses adapt to change, and they’re right. Brexit isn’t going to stop us from doing what we do. The uncertainty around the .EU domain and whether we’ll still be able to use it in a few weeks time meant this the switch was an easy decision. Steps have been taken to ensure you will be diverted to the new domains, but you will need to re-enter and save your login …
A guide to life-saving first aid
In a perfect world, giving a real person CPR would be as easy as blowing up a balloon and pushing down the contents of an overflowing bin, to cram in yet another bag of rubbish before collection day. No panic. No sudden rush of adrenaline. No drama; because you know what to do, right? You trained for this. In reality, it’s always going to be a pretty big deal. It’s not every day you’re called upon to save a life. Your heart will be racing and your palms will be sweating, as you recall your training and spring into action. …
How do you know if you need an ambulance?
Our online training videos feature professionals in their field, whether it’s a first aid video or a dental video. One first aid veteran, ex-Paramedic and founder of the Community First Responder (CFR) scheme, Duncan Parsonage, took some time out to answer common questions we get asked. How do you know if you need an ambulance? “I think in the UK, we have become very reliant on the emergency services. I think inappropriate calling when they released new figures recently, it was around 70% of calls that come into emergency services don’t actually require an ambulance. It takes up an awful …
