Virtual reality makes vertical a reality

Working at height

Remove term: Working at height Working at heightWorking at height isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. In fact, for the estimated 1 in 5 people that suffer from acrophobia (a fear of heights), it’s probably rather ‘low’ on their to-do lists!

However, there has recently been lots of media attention on a potential cure for this phobia, using virtual reality.

The buzz comes after a recent study, where patients with the fear were asked to explore high spaces through a VR headset, whilst the ‘virtual’ therapist spoke about their fears. After six sessions, questionnaires completed by the participants showed that their fears had almost halved!

We’re all about applying the latest technologies to help train and treat individuals, which is why ProTrainings has pioneered e-learning methods for many years. This experiment is an interesting use of VR and gives a glimpse of how the industry can apply tech to help treat a variety of mental health conditions in the future.
