Bausch & Lomb, who are the manufacturers of Emerade adrenaline auto-injectors, have now announced that the 300 and 500 microgram dose auto-injectors are available again in the UK following corrections made to the device.
The Emerade 150 microgram dose will still be unavailable at this time.
It is important to remember that different brands of adrenaline auto-injectors have different usage instructions and therefore training specific to the brand you are prescribed to must be given.
Some important advice includes:
- Always carry two adrenaline auto-injectors with you.
- Ensure you have registered the expiry date of your adrenaline auto-injector on the relevant manufacturer’s website, so you are aware of when a new prescription is required.
- Ensure you receive a replacement adrenaline auto-injector before disposing of any out of date devices.
- Always make sure you have a trainer device.
- Make sure that your family and friends are familiar with the device you have and how to use it.
It is important in an emergency to call 999, ask for an ambulance and make sure you say anaphylaxis.
Our anaphylaxis course covers the use of Epi-Pens, Emerade and Jext as well as recognition of signs, treatment and concerns. Training is available as a video online or face to face course nationwide. Find more information on the course here www.proanaphylaxis.co.uk, email support@protrainings.uk or give us a call on 01206 805359.
